Itinerary for Wakefield HS Competition 10-07-17 The Riverside Marching Band has recently added a new project on Donors Choose. We would like to acquire a new keyboard cart to make it easier to move equipment such as a keyboard, speakers, mixer, portable battery and more to and from marching band practices and performances. If you are able to make a donation, please click on the link below:
https://www.donorschoose.org/project/keyboard-cart-so-riverside-marching-band/2697221/ More importantly, please forward this message to any relatives or individuals who would like to help out our students at Riverside. Thank you for your consideration! The Marching Band will preview what they have learned of their Fall Show at 5:30 PM on August 18 in the parking lot at the school. After they perform, we will serve a dinner for the students and their families in the school cafeteria. It is important that families RSVP for the dinner to insure we have enough food. We also are asking families to help provide some of the side dishes and items for the meal. You can RSVP and sign up for a specific item to bring at www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F044FA5AE2EA3FF2-marching.
We will be taking an optional field trip this coming Sunday, July 30th to BB&T Field in Winston Salem, NC to see the top DCI drum corps compete at NightBEAT. The tickets are $25 each and I would suggest bringing around $20 for concessions. We will be meeting at Riverside at 2pm and getting back around 12am. Please click here for a detailed itinerary. I will be driving students to the event and have limited seating available. If you are a parent/guardian interested in providing transportation, please let me know.
If you are planning to attend, please send me an e-mail or call my office at school by 5pm Friday, because it would be best if we reserved tickets in advance. You will also be required to complete a field trip permission/medical form (like we do for all field trips). You will NOT be allowed to go if you do not have this completed prior to going on the trip! The performances will be jaw-dropping and it doesn't get any better than this when it comes to marching band! Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. The Riverside Marching Pirates are going to be the recipient of new marching band shoes from DCI's Carolina Crown as part of the CrownCARES Initiative aims to provide shoes for marching band programs in need of financial support! We will be accepting the gift on Sunday, July 31st at NightBEAT held in Winston Salem, NC at BB&T Field on the campus of Wake Forest University in front of a large crowd of spectators and the top 8 drum & bugle corps in the world. The show will also feature "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. Katie Basden, a graduate of Riverside HS who was recently on the TV show "The Voice", is also performing at the pre-show to the event.
