The first week of school has been designated by DPS to be an orientation week with a focus on building relationships with students and helping students get their technology set-up and working. We will be starting the schedule for Fall semester this Monday, August 17th! Here is the link to the weekly schedule for Fall semester: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fhKRqRXCOCT970VNbnBv6ie7LM-4l5dY/view It is my understanding that the Zoom links for all of the teachers at Riverside will be posted on the school website sometime tomorrow (Sunday). You need to think of your teacher's Zoom link like the physical classroom that you would normally attend for school. Here is the link for my classroom (virtual band room): https://dpsnc.zoom.us/j/4903100245 If you are having issues with logging into Canvas, using Clever, or any other technical issue that may arise, do your best to make it to the Zoom meeting for your class so that you can let your teacher know! If you having issues with internet, please feel free to send a text to my cell to let me know. Mr. Mann's cell #: (919)-864-2364. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I look forward to "seeing" many of you this coming week! Tomorrow is the LAST day of Virtual Band Camp 2020 and students are strongly encouraged to WEAR A COSTUME to celebrate! Get creative with what you have around the house and we will see what we can come up with…
After discussion today with students, we have decided that we are going to begin the school year practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm. This schedule will begin starting on Tuesday, August 18th. (Members of Drumline and Color Guard please stay tuned as we may need to meet at alternative times depending on availability of our instructors.) Attendance will be critical to your success in Marching Band, so you need to make sure that you are making time in your schedule for these rehearsals. Work will not be considered an excused absence, so you will need to build your work schedule around the designated rehearsal times. We will NOT be having any rehearsals next week (Aug 10th-14th), so that we can prepare for the start of the school year on Monday, August 17th. During this time, I will be copying the content from Google Classroom over into Canvas, which is the learning management system (LMS) that we will use once the school year has started. Students will still have access to the Google Classroom in order to keep working on recording parts for stand tunes. Great work so far on our first tune "Apache" (click on link below)! https://drive.google.com/file/d/176GoEGEbKFX9fRaKmwsuxWapPCwOdTQd/view?usp=sharing The general consensus was that everyone liked the adjustment to the amount of time that we were spending on Zoom today. We are going to stick with the same time frame of 9:30-11:00am, but are break down that time a little differently. We are going to eliminate stretches to make a little more time for warm-ups and sectionals.
Tomorrow's (Thurs) Schedule 9:30am-9:45am - Attendance, Announcements 9:45am-10:15am - Break-Out Rooms for Music Warm-Ups 10:15am-11:00am - Sectionals Part Assignments - If you aren't sure which part to play for a particular tune, check Google Classroom to find your part assignment. Join Remind! - Text @fh2eh6 to 81010 I was really pleased with how everyone bounced back with a great attitude after we ran into some trouble on Tuesday. Thank you for your patience as we continue to troubleshoot and "see" you tomorrow! Virtual Band Camp 2020 will begin this coming Monday, July 27th starting at 9:00am! In order to get ready, I need each student to join the Google Classroom that I have set-up.

(I am aware that DPS has selected Canvas as the official Learning Management System (LMS); however, I feel it will be easier for me to start with Google Classroom and pivot over to Canvas once it is ready!) If not, click on the link to the Google form below.
