Band Camp 2019 Starts Monday!

7/26/2019

This is a friendly reminder that Band Camp 2019 will be starting on Monday of next week!  We will be rehearsing from 9am-4pm each day with an hour break (12-1pm) for lunch.  I plan to be at the school around 8:15am to open up the building before each rehearsal.  Here is checklist of things to bring:

-Instrument (unless using a school instrument)
-Pencil
-Folder (or something to keep music in)
-Water Bottle
-Packed Lunch
-Cool, comfortable clothing
-Tennis Shoes (No flip flops, Crocs, etc.)

We will NOT be outside the whole time.  I understand that it has been very hot lately and steps will be taken to make sure that students are not getting over-heated or over-exerted.  With that said, it is marching band and we will need to be outside to work on our game!  Students - You need to make sure that you are drinking PLENTY of water.  Staying hydrated is very important!

If I have still not received your commitment form and/or deposit, please bring that with you to the first day of camp.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you and catching up on what you have been up to over the summer!

-Mr. Mann

DCI NightBEAT 2019 - Sun, July 28th

7/18/2019

On Sunday, July 28th (the day before band camp starts), I am organizing an optional field trip to Winston Salem, NC to go see the best marching bands in the world!  I am not kidding…Drum & Bugle Corps (DCI) is essentially professional marching band and the performances are simply amazing…Check out the Bluecoats from 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e830sfK33g&t=17s

If you are interested in going, you will need to purchase a ticket online.  I have already purchased a seat (Section 9, Seat EE-19) in an area that still has open seats around it.  These are the cheapest tickets available at $25.00 with a $5.00 convenience fee when purchasing online.  (You are welcome to purchase a seat wherever you want, but I would prefer that we be able to experience the shows together!)  The seats are actually not that bad, because the stadium seating is curved.  This show has become very popular, so I don't want to count on being able to get tickets when we get there.  Alumni and Parents Invited!  Go here for additional information about the show: http://carolinacrown.org/index.php/new-nightbeat-site

The plan is to depart from Riverside at 2:30pm on Sunday, July 28th and we would be getting back late around 12:00am.  I have attached a more detailed itinerary and directions to this message.  I do have 6 spots open in my van for students.  Let me know if you would like transportation to the event!  It will be first come, first serve for the "MannBandVan".  If you are able to drive for the event, please let me know!  Concessions are very expensive, so I would recommend bringing atleast $20 to make sure you have enough money.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this opportunity.  Please let me know ASAP if you have purchased a ticket and need a ride, so that I can make sure everybody has a way to get to BB&T Field over in Winston Salem.  This will be our fourth year taking the trip and I can't think of a better way to get ready for marching season!
